              Two day National Seminar on

“GROWTH RATE STRATEGIES TO REVIEW INDIAN AGRICULTURE AND ECONOMY: POST COVID -19”on 14th& 15th  March 2022, under the aegis of Department of Economics, Y.A.G.D.C.(W). Chirala.Prakasam Dt.A.P.-523155

Objectives of the Seminar:

  1. To create awareness of the impact of Covid-19 on Indian Economy
  2. To make an assessment regarding the schemes implemented by the govt in reducing the impact of covid-19.
  3. To understand the purpose of e-NAM and its efficacy in introducing digital marketing in agriculture.
  4. To understand the role of agriculture in increasing GDP.

       A two day National Seminar was organized by the Department of Economics on the topic “Growth Rate Strategies to Review Indian Agriculture and Economy: Post Covid-19” on 14th and 15th March 2022 to bring out the consequences of the challenging situation after the drastic effect of Covid-19 on the social and economic scenario of the country.

        The two day National Seminar was conducted as four (3) technical sessions besides the inaugural and valedictory functions. On the first day the inaugural session was attended by the distinguished personalities from Universities and Colleges from different areas. It was presided over by the Principal of the College Dr. Ch.Ramanamma, M.Sc. Ph.D. In the function the auspicious lamp was lighted. The College Principal Dr. Ch.Ramanamma explained the establishment of the college by the munificence of the Donors, and its distinctiveness in bringing out the latent talents of the women students of the surrounding areas and to empower them in different fields. Dr. Y Chinna Rao, Seminar Director explained the importance of the Seminar in dealing with the contemporary challenging situation. The book of Proceedings of the Seminar was opened by the distinguished guests. Delivering his key note address, the Chief Guest of the function, Dr.K. Madhu Babu, HOD of Department of Economics and Dean, CDC of ANU,Guntur , spoke on the subsequent stages of Agriculture sector in Indian Economy from 1930, the period of Economic Depression , to till date. He spoke on the Depression (1930), Green Revolution (1965), New Economic Policy (1991), GST (2017) and the aftermath of Covid-19. The Guest of Honour Dr. I Satya Sundaram, retired Director of P.G. centre, The Hindu College, Machilipatnam, spoke on the consequences of Covid-19 on Agriculture and its Allied Sectors.

            During the technical sessions the scholars presented their papers on different aspects of the topic. Dr.K. Bbhaskar Rao, Assistant Professor, Dept of Economics, Sri ABR Govt Degree College, Repalle, Guntur Dt. explained how the growth rate remained as usual without being affected by Covid-19. Dr N. Vijaya Lakshmi ,vice Principal,spoke on how economics was related to the everyday life of the people. As many as 48 participants benefited by the seminar and several deliberations and discussions were conducted on the proposed topics. In her feedback K. Anusha, a student of Final B.A. responded how the seminar was very useful to them as it is related to the syllabus prescribed by Acharya Nagarjuna University as Cluster Paper. Sri D. Johan Raj, HOD of Dept of Economics, proposed vote of thanks.

Outcomes of the Seminar:

The participants of the seminar have actively participated as the topics were of contemporary relevance. Many scholars have got information to be useful for their thesis and research. The seminar discussions have created a good understanding of the role of agriculture in increasing the GDP. 

       A useful assessment was made on the measures implemented by the govt for coping up with the post covid-19 situation.

      Nearly as many as 48 scholars and 150 students were benefited by the seminar discussions.

       The Proceedings of the seminar published as a book serves as a reference.
